Terms of Service

Last updated: Version 2026-11

These terms are the agreement between you and Splice Engineering Limited, trading as Aplara ("we"). Aplara is a trading name of Splice Engineering Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 08179062. Registered office: 3 Bickerton Close, Birchwood, Warrington, England, WA3 6LS. Please read them with our Privacy notice and Refunds and cancellation page. Version 2026-11.

Your account

  • You must be aged 18 or over to use Aplara.
  • Aplara’s paid service is currently available only to people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom. It is not currently offered in the EU/EEA, Switzerland or the United States. This may change as Aplara expands.
  • One person per account. Keep your password and second factor to yourself.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.

What Aplara does

Aplara helps you turn your own experience into CV, application and interview material. It is a writing and preparation tool, not a guarantee of an interview, a job offer, or an outcome of any kind, and it is not legal, immigration or career advice.

Aplara is for your own job applications. Everything it produces is a draft: check it before you use it.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you put into Aplara and everything generated from it. You grant us only the permission needed to store and process it in order to run the service. You confirm that what you tell Aplara about your experience is true — Aplara checks generated claims against your recorded evidence, but it cannot verify the evidence itself.

Subscriptions

  • Free and Pro plans carry usage allowances shown in the app; Aplara does not offer unlimited AI.
  • Payments are taken by Stripe. Prices are in GBP. Splice Engineering Limited is not VAT registered and no VAT is currently added. The amount shown is the total Aplara charges; your own bank or card provider may apply its own fees.
  • Aplara Pro Monthly costs £14.99 per month. Aplara Application Season costs £34.99 every 3 months. Both give the same Pro allowances and renew automatically until cancelled.
  • Cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period.
  • Cancellation, your 14-day right to cancel and refunds are explained in Refunds and cancellation.

Price changes

If we change the price of your plan, we'll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies. It applies from your first payment after that date. If you don't want to pay it, you can cancel before then. The step from the Founding price to the standard price, shown when you subscribe, is not a price change.

Launch guarantee

The launch guarantee covers every payment made before 1 February 2027.

For any payment you make in that period, you can ask for a full refund by emailing support@aplara.com within 30 days of that payment. We'll refund it to the card you paid with within 5 working days of your request. Your bank may take a few more days to show it.

When we refund, we cancel your subscription straight away and your account returns to the Free plan. Your Founding Offer place ends with it. Your saved work stays in your account.

Payments made from 1 February 2027 are covered by your normal cancellation rights below, not by this guarantee.

Your right to cancel

You also have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of buying. Because you asked to start using Pro straight away, we could normally keep an amount for the service you used in that time; for payments covered by the launch guarantee we don't, and refund in full.

You can stop future payments at any time in Plan & Billing. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.

None of this affects your legal rights.

Founding Offer

  • Aplara Pro Monthly: £11.99 per month (a £3 discount) for the first 3 monthly billing periods, then £14.99 per month until cancelled.
  • Aplara Application Season: £29.99 (a £5 discount) for the first three-month period, then £34.99 every 3 months until cancelled.
  • There are 1,000 Founding Offer places in total, shared across both options. The offer is available until 23:59 (UK time) on 31 January 2027, or until all places are taken, whichever is sooner.
  • After the discounted period, the subscription renews at the standard price shown above.
  • A place is taken when your first Founding payment goes through. If you cancel or close your account, your Founding price ends and the place is not returned to the pool. If every payment you made is refunded in full, the place is returned.

Acceptable use

Our Acceptable Use Policy and AI use and limitations notice form part of these terms. Breaking it can end your access.

Changes to Aplara and to these terms

We improve Aplara over time, so features may change. We may also update these terms, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how Aplara works. If a change to these terms or a change to Aplara affects you significantly and negatively, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. You can then cancel, and we'll refund any payment for the time after the change.

Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. Unless the breach is serious, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close your account when you haven't broken these terms, we'll refund any payment for the unused time.

If you don't sign in for 24 months, we'll email you, and close your account 30 days later unless you sign in.

Our responsibility to you

We provide Aplara with reasonable care and skill. If we don't, tell us: we'll try to put it right, and if we can't, you may be entitled to some or all of your money back.

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, for business losses (Aplara is for personal use), for employers' decisions, or for anything you send without checking it.

If digital content we supply damages a device or digital content of yours because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we'll repair the damage or pay you fair compensation.

We work to keep Aplara available, but it may sometimes be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

Complaints

If something goes wrong, please tell us: see our complaints procedure.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.

General

If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms are between you and us; no one else can enforce them. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over Aplara, and will tell you if we do; your rights won't be reduced. These terms are in English.
